Bike Ōwairaka

Bike Ōwairaka is for Mt Albert and Ōwairaka community members. They want to create a place to share information about cycling events, tips, call on others for support, and celebrate how awesome it is getting around on two wheels! This is for every kind of bike rider – lycra racers, commuters, cargo families, family riders. All welcome!

Liberty Church

Is an all-age, multicultural, Baptist church in the heart of Ōwairaka. We gather on Sundays at 10.30am, and there are programmes for children & youth. Small groups meet during the week and are the hub of deeper personal growth and relational connectedness. We warmly welcome all people – come along to a Sunday service or pop in for a chat and coffee during the week.

Ōwairaka Sea Scouts

Ōwairaka Sea Scouts have been in Mt Albert since 1927. Offering a challenging and exciting programme, often combining with other local scout groups to gain added benefits through shared expertise. Scouts 9 to 15 years and Venturers 15 to 18 years. The space is also available for hire.

Pest Free Ōwairaka

We are blessed in Mt Albert to have a tree-lined neighbourhood and our beautiful maunga which provides such a great habitat for ourselves as well as our native wildlife. However, our wildlife is under pressure from introduced species.

The goal is to rid Ōwairaka from the most damaging pest animals and plants mid-term, and the current focus is on rats. A group of volunteers started controlling rats on the top of Ōwairaka / Mt Albert jointly with the Tūpuna Maunga Authority. Order a subsidised rat trap online at:

Co-ordinated by the much-respected conservation champion Wendy John, they have been working to protect and restore the ecological health of central Auckland’s longest stream and its surrounding environment since 2004.
